The Attila
& Dave Project - Lifeline
By
tlarz
Once in a while, a new exciting band
surfaces on the great sea of art/progrock, reaching the shore in ripple
effect. My dear friend and mate Leo, has just presented me with such a
surprise! ATTILA & DAVE PROJECT...yes that's right, that is the name of
these 3 fine musicians. What a joy it is to have some new input, in this
our progworld!! Every progfan and reviewer alike knows this
feeling...ah, new blood, new texture, new form. Well, this is not all
together true, Attila & Dave P. Delivers some exciting, different
approach to artrock/popprog/folkprog, but its not new per se, its just
refreshingly different!!
Their 1999 outing: “Lifeline” are a superb mix of artrock and prog,
think Porcupine Tree/ think Beatle´ish tunes/ think 70´ties sound and
you´re almost there! This album has been sitting in my cd-player,
changing places with the new Hackett cd, for a long time now. This album
grows with every listen, take track #3: “Moonlight” a brilliant artrock
tune, that glides into a heartbeat effect laid under the soothing vocals
of Attila.
This is really a masterful album, with great vocals and some fine tuned
songs! It is refreshingly different and i really have to applaud these
guys for trying something new!!
So dear prog friend, if you stumble upon Attila & Dave Project, in your
search through various record stores and 2´hand bins, get this fine
album!! Ill be back with a review of their next album :
“Illuminated”....meanwhile, go get this one, you wont be disappointed,
promise!!!
