San Francisco Based Band Tours The West Coast Before Eventually Striking East

By Rosina Busse

12:05 p.m. in the MU Lounge Wednesday found a crowded hall filled with students, a reporter, and three musicians. The event was a promotional show by the Attila & Dave Project. The band includes Attila Medveczky, Dave Stevenson, and Rusty Aceves.

As the musicians began their set, Stevenson introduced the band and commented on the crowd gathering to hear them.

"We're from the San Francisco Bay Area, and since it's so damn cold outside we thought we'd come by and take your mind off the weather." With that, they kicked off an hour long set of mind blowing songs. The band has been consistently touring along the West Coast, between L.A. and Seattle, playing clubs and college campuses to build up their fan base.

They have had growing success also, with some college radio airplay and interviews, and an ever increasing "cult following" along their touring route. They hope to branch east soon.
In early 2001, the band released their second album, LIFELINE, which has been acting as their "business card," according to Stevenson. They plan to get started on a third CD the beginning of next year. ADP is also looking into management, hoping to "hook up with a more established label that can do something for (them)," said Stevenson. Their sound is an irresistible mix of electric and acoustic blues rock, with hints of the Beatles, Ozzy/Black Sabbath, the Doors and Days of the New.

Every song is different-- some more along the lines of classic rock, and others with a fascinating tribal drum beat. It's musical and melodic, with well-executed vocal harmonies. Perhaps most enchanting is the originality of the music, the result of the band's non-formulaic approach.
